Services for Families*
Floortime™ Sessions
During Floortime™ sessions we join with the child and follow their lead. Using the DIRFloortime® framework as we play, we’ll learn about your child’s developmental capacities and individual strengths and challenges and tailor our interactions to support
developmental growth. Floortime sessions will typically involve coaching parents and/or others who care for and interact with your child.
Parent/Caregiver Coaching/Support
Coaching is an important aspect of Floortime™ sessions. As part of Floortime™ sessions coaching is geared to help you better understand your child’s individual differences and developmental capacities. You'll learn to use strategies to support developmental growth and tailor interactions to his/her unique challenges, strengths, and interests. Sessions also incorporate support for addressing challenging behavior, difficulties with daily transitions, and other concerns that impact daily activities at home and school (see Educational Support/ Developing a Home Program below). Coaching can also be provided to babysitters, child care providers, grandparents and other family members who care for or interact regularly with your child.
Floortime™ Sessions at School
PPM can provide Floortime sessions in school as well as home settings. In addition to direct Floortime therapy, coaching can be provided to school staff including one-to-one providers to support their use of DIRFloortime practices and strategies.
Coaching and Consultation with Other Team Members
PPM offers coaching and/or consultation with other team members including childcare staff, teachers, one-to-one support staff, therapists, etc. in educational and therapeutic settings to support their use of DIRFloortime® techniques and other practices tailored to your child's needs. Participation and advocacy at IEP/IFSP and other team meetings and collaborative/consultative meetings with individual team members are also available.
Facilitated Play Dates/Play Groups
Facilitation is provided to help your child build relationships with peers and siblings through play dates at your home. I will coach you on strategies for coordinating play dates and facilitating social play and interaction.
